How hard-core liberals think

Nine Democrats in the House of Representatives voted for a resolution lauding Ramadan and Islam, but voted against a resolution lauding Christmas and Christianity. The explanation given by one of the representatives, Diana DeGette of Colorado, is that the Ramadan resolution, which she supported, was about “rejecting religious extremism and promoting of religious tolerance,” while the Christmas resolution, which she opposed, “promoted Christianity over other religions.” In fact the two resolutions are very similarly worded, both praising Islam or Christianity as great religions and both being against extremism and persecution. The only difference between them that I can see is that the Christmas resolution pointed to the role “played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States.” That was the deal killer.
