Galt versus God

A blogger who calls himself Myrhaf (real name William Greeley), whom I had never read before, sums up recent items showing the confusions of conservatism, then comes to this:

Fifth, Lawrence Auster notes that Richard Mellon Scaife, the billionaire who financed the VRWC against Clinton in the ’90s, is now a Clinton ally.

By giving up their previous correct condemnation of Clinton, the conservatives have in effect said that the condemnation was never anything but raw partisanship. Having given up principle, what do they have left?

(Auster is right about the lack of principles on the right, but being a mystic, his principles are not grounded in reality.)

Now, as soon as I saw that line about my being a mystic, I realized that Myrhaf is an Ayn Rand follower. According to Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, all people who believe in God are “mystics,” meaning that they don’t believe in reason, are enemies of life and reality, and are evil. Which means that all the members of our civilization for thousands of years have been mystics who deny reality and are evil. The respective hatreds of Hitler and Marx did not extend nearly as wide as Ayn Rand’s.
