Rice never fails, because she has only one real mission, to preen, and in that mission she is always successful

Carol Iannone writes:

I saw a little of Condoleezza Rice’s address to the American Jewish Committee when it was re-broadcast today on C-SPAN. She said that Hamas is not a partner for peace and not ready to govern and therefore must be isolated. She also bragged about how she had told Jimmy Carter that his actions in speaking to Hamas were not helpful to our policy in the area. But wasn’t it Rice and Bush who insisted that Hamas be part of elections because the Palestinians being naturally endowed with the desire for freedom and self-government that are the gifts of God to all humanity would elect people who could pick up the garbage and otherwise run things instead of empowering terrorists? And therefore when the Palestinians did elect terrorists, wasn’t it Rice and Bush who helped bring about that disaster, giving Hamas the very perch of power that she now tells us we have to distance ourselves from? Wasn’t it the two of them who disdained people who questioned the present readiness of the Palestinian people for self-government, because such people were condescending and had no faith in the power of democracy, and were all around bad folks, unlike the optimistic, egalitarian Rice and Bush? Now she preens her new-found wisdom as she did her old foolishness and the servile American Jewish Committee let her get away with it.
