Creeping sharia

A reader informs me that there is a website devoted to reporting on the advance of sharia in the West, called, appropriately enough, Creeping Sharia. The current lead item is a report from CAIR boasting that the Arizona House of Representatives began its May 1 session with recitations from the Koran by certain Muslim clerics “joined by CAIR-AZ representatives and members of the Muslim community.” In the sidebar of the site there is a list of links arranged by categories, including states of the Union, so if you want to know about the progress of sharia in your state you can find out here.

(VFR has never had a blog roll, I don’t know why, the idea didn’t appeal to me and it just didn’t seem to fit the personality of VFR. But for some reason seeing this site makes me want to have one.)

Regarding your post on Creeping Sharia, once sharia is in, it is really the end.

What is going on, I think, is Muslims preparing their way for sharia in the West. More like creeping Islam, at this point.

For example, at least here in Toronto, they open “Islamic Centres” in ordinary buildings, hardly recognizable from the outside, which really are a disguise for centers with prayer rooms—i.e. mosques. They don’t call them mosques yet (although they do use the Arabic masjid), or else we’d have a mosque in every corner—unheard of in Toronto which is still nostalgic about once having a church in every corner. Of course, the full-blown mosques are accepted as part of the multi-faith landscape of Toronto (along with Catholic churches, Hindu temples and Jewish synagogues).

Here’s an “Islamic Centre—Masjid Toronto” right in the heart of Toronto, with a full prayer schedule whose vision is to: “establish a permanent Islamic center in downtown Toronto…”

Other ways they are preparing their sharia is by acculturating us to their ways:

• Halal shops everywhere

• Women in their gear

• Television programs which they coat as part of the multicultural or multi-faith scenario

• Writing in national publications (the Macleans three were doing just that, but this one time it backfired.)

• Appropriate the city’s landscape to make it look Muslim. Here is a photo from an Islamic site which makes the city’s sports dome and the CN tower look like a mosque with its minaret. I’ve seen this done several times now.

• Buying real estate for Islamic purposes (“Islamic Centres”, stores, etc…)

Here is the Masjid Toronto (image of building here), working itself into the Toronto cultural scene:

Masjid Toronto is proud to announce its participation in “Doors Open Toronto” this year. On Saturday May 24 and Sunday May 25, from 10am to 5pm, visitors can expect a guided tour of the building, which will go through some of the history of the mosque, the old vault of this former bank building. Visitors are welcome to observe the congregational midday prayer.

As this is a place of worship, all clothing must cover shoulders and knees. Footwear must be removed upon entering the building.

So, they insidiously prepare their way for full-blown sharia, although they may have achieved it in pockets.

I think this is where we should also focus our attention. As I said, once sharia is in, I don’t see how we can get it out, like the prayer session in the Arizona House of Representatives. For example, do they also have Jewish prayer sessions, Hindus ones? How did the Muslims get in there?

So, there is a concerted effort, hidden and seemingly harmless, to their eventual sharia implementations.
