Hamilton Heights trial continues

The Columbia Spectator is posting a running account of the trial in the Hamilton Heights atrocity. The judge said today that the lawyers will conclude testimony this week. Closing arguments should be next Monday.I wish every trial of interest had this kind of coverage, giving you a panoramic view of the trial, telling about each witness, and the basic information provided by each witness. Naturally the newspapers never think of doing anything like this. But once upon a time in America, they did. Newspapers told their readers what was happening in the world. Important trials would be recounted in a narrative, coherent, dramatic fashion. Papers didn’t just toss disconnected nuggets at their readers.
