Biden and Thomas
Powerline holds Joseph Biden to account for his decisive role, as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in the single most evil and disgraceful thing that the American political system ever did to an individual person: the high-tech lynching of Clarence Thomas. It also criticizes Biden for his role in another disgraceful chapter in modern American history, the trashing of Robert Bork. In Biden’s defense, it ought to be remembered that his initial impulse in the Anita Hill matter was to refuse to provide a forum for her charges. But when a bunch of female Democratic House members charged up the Senate stairs like a bunch of Bacchae demanding that Clarence Thomas be torn to pieces, Biden folded.
