My position on the election

Earlier today I wrote:

My view remains that McCain will ruin conservatism. At the same time, though I am not persuaded that they are right, I respect, and will not argue against, those who are convinced that Obama will ruin America, and therefore that McCain must be elected no matter how terrible he is. But if we must elect McCain, let’s at least be honest about what we’ll be getting, shall we?

As for those who believe that McCain will be positively good for America, that is a position I not only disagree with, but will oppose.

James Wilson writes:

I will not vote for McCain (much less for Obama), and for all the usual reasons. But that will not make me more elevated than others who will, because not voting is a half-vote for Bam. So the more honest action would be to vote for McCain to keep the Marxist puppet and all his puppeteers away from the Executive, or vote for Bam to see the Republicans rid themselves of this neo-con disease and form a spine.

I’ve a friend with an opinion I respect, even if it does not change mine. He is going to vote for McCain, because he personally needs the next four years to square up his personal and business life before that kind of trouble hits. And he is a very well prepared guy, extremely competent, and well armed. That does make me think, but doesn’t change how difficult it would be for me to vote for McCain.

If God had a plan seeing us through Jimmy Carter, maybe he has one now. But it seems like asking too much, considering what we have become.
