Where have all the conservatives gone?
In a lengthy thread last May in which we discussed Peter Brimelow’s criticisms of the late William Buckley in particular, and the downfall of National Review in general, Gintas made one of the most succinct comments I’ve ever seen about the character and fate of the conservative movement, worthy of inclusion in a book of quotations:
Did [Buckley] build a Conservative movement, or just a “Win The Cold War” movement? You’d think a conservative movement based on the Permanent Things would have outlasted the Cold War a little. Ben W. writes:
