White Marine sergeant and his black wife are slain by four black Marines

Brooklyn Marine Sgt. Jan Pawel Pietrzak and his wife, Quiana, seen in August wedding photo, were found tortured and slain Oct. 15 in their home near San Diego.

And of course, there are no racial details in the story. You have to make your own conclusions. But since the perps are named Embrys, Tyrone, and Kesuan, it’s a pretty easy guess what race they are. And considering that white Sarge married a black woman, and they executed both of them, it’s pretty easy to guess the motivation, too.

Despite that, the first reader’s comment published by the Daily News is by someone who jumps to the conclusion that this was white racists seeking revenge for Obama’s election.

LA replies:

Typical incompetent journalism. The headline says “tortured,” the article doesn’t mention any torture. Also does the article say how the suspects were identified? I missed that. Could you find more articles on this that detail torture if any? Or many “torture” is one of those words that’s being expanded today.

Miller said he and others went to Pietrzak’s home to rob him, then tied up the couple and discussed with John whether to kill them.

Cox and Sykes, known as “Psycho,” acknowledged they went to the home to rob Pietrzak. All four said his wife was sexually assaulted, the affidavit said….

The men were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder and special-circumstance allegations of committing multiple murders, committing the crime during a robbery, and rape by instrument…

Deputies found the door of the house open and the deceased couple bound and gagged in the family room. A fire had been set in the house in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Most of the other stories are re-writes of these. There is no explanation of what “rape by instrument” entails, but that undoubtedly accounts for the reports of torture. So what appears to have happened is this: four men, presumably all black (though of course the reports won’t say), intent upon robbery, go to the home of someone who not only knows them, but whom they should know cannot possibly be well enough off to be worth robbing. They tie him up, rape his wife as well as penetrate her with an instrument, and kill them both. Either they are massively stupid (not at all a warrantless assumption, considering they couldn’t even set a fire properly), or else there are other issues not being explored by either the authorities or the media. It is still my strong suspicion that Sgt. Pietrzak was targeted because he had the temerity to take a black woman as his wife, and that she was targeted because she had the temerity to take a white man as her husband.
