Voltaire versus Jesus: the debate goes on

The discussion at Mangan’s Miscellany on whether God exists and the Bible is true is still proceeding. In my most recent comment, I reply to a disciple of Voltaire who lists no fewer than 42 contradictions he professes to find in the Gospels by way of demonstrating that the Gospels are a tissue of lies. As an index of the mentality we are dealing with here, the same commenter says he finds the Gospels “so poorly written [italics added] that a logical person is at best left to ponder if Jesus even existed.” Alan Roebuck also replies.
