Trillion Dollar Pork
Tonight I read
this at
Powerline: “Barack Obama gave a press conference tonight; the key topic, of course, was the Democrats’ trillion-dollar pork bill.”
The phrase, “trillion dollar pork,” gave me an idea for a take-off on Bob Dylan’s 1967 song, “Million Dollar Bash”:
Trillion Dollar Pork
Well, the president
With his wheel in the gorge
And the government
With its checks all forged
With my friends in D.C.
And my pull in New York
I’m just reachin’ out
For that trillion dollar pork.
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
It’s that trillion dollar pork.
Everybody from right now
To over there and back
The bigger they spend
The harder they crack.
Come on, sweet cream
You ain’t no Howard Roark
We’re all gonna feast
On that trillion dollar pork.
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
It’s that trillion dollar pork.
Well, I want what I want
And I won’t take a “no.”
The country’s still rich
What else I gotta know?
I’ve been waitin’ forty years
To stick in the fork
And now I’m gonna wallow
In that trillion dollar pork.
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
Ooh, baby, ooh-ee
It’s that trillion dollar pork.
Here is the
original recording from
The Basement Tapes. And here are the
lyrics.
