Stimulus passes, will stimulate employment for illegal aliens

Jeremy G. writes:

The stimulus bill passed the Senate without E-Verify provisions to prevent stimulus jobs from going to illegals. This occurred despite efforts by Sen. Sessions to attach E-Verify provisions as an amendment (using identical language that passed in the House version of the stimulus bill). You can read Roy Beck’s blog here.

Now that leftists can no longer credibly argue that illegals do the work that Americans don’t want to do or that our economic growth depends upon millions and millions of imported workers, I wonder how the left will publicly defend policies that continue to bring in millions and millions of immigrant workers (given that their objective of erasing America cannot yet be publicly stated).

Jeremy G. is mistaken—there is still hope for E-Verify. The House and Senate versions are different and need to be worked out in conference committee. We just need to get the conference committee to adopt the House language instead of the Senate language. People should join NumbersUSA or login to their accounts and see what they can do at this, the eleventh hour.
