Middle school pupils get to “cream-the-teacher”

Larry Sand writes:

This is for all of you who thought the DAY OF PINK at my Los Angeles middle school was, shall we say, interesting. This week we are being treated to a creaming-the-teacher event.

And before you ask about the principal’s take on all this, she is one of the people on the list who have volunteered to have a whipped cream pie smashed in their face. Also on the list: one of the assistant principals and the school security guard.

Here’s the announcement:

Whip Cream Smash

What: Do you want to smash a whip cream pie on a teacher or administrator’s face? The time has come. Leadership will be hosting another Whip Cream Smash.

When:The Whip Cream Smash will be held on the 13th of March. The jugs will be at the student store from the 2nd to 12th of March.

Where:The outdoor stage at lunch.

Here’s how it works:

  • Jugs will be set up at the student store with the names of teachers written on them during nutrition and lunch.

  • Students will put spare change into the gallon jug with the name of teacher that they want to see get creamed. The five teachers whose gallon jugs are filled up the highest will be participating.

  • Students that donate any change will be given a ticket to participate in a raffle. The raffle will be held during home room announcements on the 13th and 5 students will be chosen to smash whip cream in a teachers face.

Here are the teachers participating:

1. Mr. H
2. J
3. Ms. S
4. Ms. W
5. Ms. A
6. Mr. D
7. Mr. G
8. Ms K
9. Ms. M
10. Mr. L

* Teachers are allowed to participate in the raffle.

Our Boy Scout troop does a similar thing with the Scout Master. We’re diminishing the distinctions between adults and children. I’m not infrequently called by my first name by children and if you correct them in front of their parents, your treated as if your being pompous.
