A failure to understand
Ilana Mercer does not get it. She thinks that in a discussion at VFR a few weeks ago about her change of a word in a passage of mine that she quoted (she replaced the word “stink” by “odor,” which she enclosed in brackets), I and readers failed to understand that the word I had originally used was inappropriate, and thus we showed a lack of traditionalist sensibility. In fact, I agreed with her word change. I won’t theorize as to why Mercer takes my agreement as disagreement. I will simply repeat that I approved of her word change and conceded that my original word choice was not good. Posted by Lawrence Auster at March 19, 2009 01:00 PM | Send Email entry |
