Obama on Gates

Obama said he didn’t know the facts about the Henry Gates situation, then he said that the police acted stupidly.

If he didn’t know the facts, why did he intrude into a local police matter and pronounce on the rights and wrongs of what happened? Only a stupid man, a hopeless schmegegy, would have done such a thing. [Correction: Or else someone totally immersed in black racial victimology and anti-whiteness.] To me, this is the equivalent of Carter collapsing from heat exhaustion during a run, looking overcome and wrecked—in public, in front of cameras, creating the indelible image of himself as a broken-down loser. It’s the equivalent of Bush the elder dismissively saying “read my hips” after he broke his solemn “read my lips” pledge not to raise taxes—the mark of a man so arrogant and unserious he was bound to lose. It signifies that Obama, for all the hype about his great abilities and self-assurance and the leftist winds of history in his sails, and for all the fear he inspires in conservatives, is a loser and that his presidency is going to fail. I’ve never said that before.

Of course I could be wrong. But his contradictory remarks about the Gates affair were so preternaturally stupid that they suggest a man out of touch with reality. Not a master of politics, but a colossal jerk.
