Why Obama had no choice but to get into the health care mess

Is it the case, as Michael Goodwin of the New York Dialy News wrote, that Obama’s plunge into the health care fight was unnecessary? Fighting Mad Reader says no. Obama is out to socialize America, and nationalized health care is the indispensable first step toward that goal.
