This afternoon, the jury voted a sentence of death for Lemaricus Davidson in the second Christian-Newsom torture-murder trial. The prosecutors did a great job in their closing arguments this morning.

The black woman who was the lead prosecutor, Takisha Fitzgerald, shored up the timeline over the first trial. She showed the passion and conviction in this trial that Marcia Clark lacked against O.J. Simpson. The other prosecutor, Leland Price, was outstanding in his rebuttal.

In Tennessee, a judge cannot reverse a death verdict if the jury renders it. Judge Baumgartner in passing the sentence on the defendant said, “I hearby sentence you to death. May you be at peace with your maker.”
