Hanson delineates the FACT of jihad violence in America

Victor Hanson has a column at NRO in which, to the relief of his most severe critic, he avoids his usual distracting and worthless psycho-babble (Hanson frequently picks apart leftists for engaging in psycho-babble, but is blind to his own), and instead sticks to building a useful and instructive fact pattern. He shows that there have been two main types of jihadist violent attacks or attempted attacks in America since 9/11. First, there is the formally organized jihadist plot that is foiled before it is put into action. He gives numerous examples of these, and adds:

On average, in the 98 months since the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, a radical Islamic-inspired terrorist plot has been uncovered every four months.

Second, there is the lone wolf jihadist murderous outburst, of which he also gives numerous examples.

With this classification and listing of organized jihad plots and individualistic jihad eruptions, a panoramic picture begins to emerge:

[T]he facts since 9/11 reveal an undeniable reality.

Every few months either an Islamic-inspired terrorist plot will be foiled, or a young Muslim male will shoot, run down, or stab someone while invoking anger at non-Muslims.

In other words, the attack on Fort Hood happened on schedule. It was the rule, not the exception. And something like it will occur again—soon.

Excellent. In Hanson’s cogent account, ongoing jihadist violence comes into view as a concrete, predictable, and inevitable reality in this country.

And that’s where he leaves it. He indicates the pattern of unending jihadism and terrorism in the United States, but does not ask the all-important question: Therefore, what? If this is our future, what are we going to do about it?

The author of this weblog has asked the question, and answered it:

The enemy are among us, in America, in Britain, in the West, and will remain so until we remove them from the West and indeed from the entire non-Muslim world. As extreme as this sounds, it is a no-brainer. There is no other solution. All other responses to this problem add up to meaningless hand-wringing. The hand-wringing will go on FOREVER, along with the terrorist attacks and the threat of terrorist attacks, until we take the ONLY STEPS that can actually and permanently end the threat.
