Lawrence Auster, Kristor, Alan Roebuck and other participants here have been a tremendous help to me, in their thinking and analysing of the causes behind the issues of today. The way liberalism is dealt with, for example. Also, the well thought-out arguments that conscious thought cannot be the product of a random material process have given me firepower in talking to evolutionary atheists. As we know, C.S. Lewis was assisted by J.R. Tolkien, through their shared love of ancient languages and cultures, to enter into the truth of Christianity.
Knowledge is power and knowledge is what helps the spread of Christianity. But knowledge can only take us so far, and this is both humbling and liberating. We can only do so much, God graciously allows us to co-operate, but he does all the heavy lifting. And this is how it should be. There are realms which we cannot enter, nor lead others into, under our own steam.
The reality is spiritual life can only come from spirit. “It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, are are life.” John 6:63.
As the Apostle Paul wrote, “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ.” Ephesians 2:1.
As Jesus said, “The wind blows where it wants, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8.
It’s not that what we do is of no consequence or unnecessary, it’s just that the experience of new birth, is the work of God alone.
