O’Reilly vs. Weiner, again
The unconsummated question and answer session between Fox’s Interrupter-in-chief Bill O’Reilly and Brooklyn’s charming son Rep. Anthony Weiner about the health care bill was widely played on the Web last month, but it’s worth looking at again. O’Reilly is not completely innocent in this frustating exchange, because a couple of times, as is his wont, he cuts off Weiner in mid-sentence. So it’s possible to feel some sympathy for Weiner when he turns his head away from the camera and stares off into space in silent exasperation for several moments—haven’t we said at VFR that we wish O’Reilly’s guests would openly express their annoyance at his constant refusal to let them finish a sentence? But notwithstanding O’Reilly’s interruptions, the bottom line is this. He repeatedly and clearly asks Weiner, what federal agency levies the fine on people who refuse to buy health insurance? And Weiner repeatedly answers by saying, “No one is being criminalized.” Which of course is not an answer to O’Reilly’s question. Yet Weiner insists that he has answered and that O’Reilly has ignored his answer. Leftists are stone cold liars. That’s what they are. That’s their profession.
