A revolt at Wikipedia
An astonishing story that is not yet understandable. It seems that there were thousands of pornographic photos, including child pornography, posted at Wikipedia; that Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales found out about this and began removing the images from the site; that other Wikipedia people protested his action, which they regarded as dictatorial and not in keeping with Wikipedia’s egalitarian ethos, and rose up in revolt; and that Wales under pressure has relinquished his control of Wikipedia, including even his editing privileges. The story, an exclusive at Fox News, is well-written, but much more is needed to be known before one can make sense of this. Posted by Lawrence Auster at May 15, 2010 07:42 AM | Send Email entry |
