Africa and the Anglosphere
Two interesting items at Steve Sailers’s site: a devastating piece by Nicholas Kristoff in which the New York Times’ weepy victimologist honestly describes African men’s self-indulgent, alcoholic life style that, as in one typical case he recounts, makes it impossible for them even to send their children to school; and Sailer’s summary of British writer David Willetts’s thesis on what made possible the Anglo-American heritage of self-governing liberty under law, which is so different not only from the non-West but even from the Continent. Willetts’s answer is: the nuclear family, a happy and rare mean between the extended family (such as in southern Europe) on one side and rampant individualism (such as that of African men) on the other.
