Tonight
I’m not sure if I’m going to blog about the elections tonight. With a presidential election, there is one race to focus on, with the returns from the various states adding up to one cumulative result. Such a race has an intelligible structure and can be intensely interesting to blog about, as, for example, the Bush-Kerry race on election night 2004 was (see in particular my comment at 11:56 p.m., and by the way, all my information in that discussion came from the Web, not from television news, which was and is WORTHLESS). But how does one follow and make sense of 435 House races and 37 Senate races? It might be better to wait until all the returns are in and just reflect on the final results. We’ll see.
