“Hawaii’s governor wants to reveal Obama birth info”
From the AP, linked at Lucianne.com: HONOLULU—Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie wants to find a way to release more information about President Barack Obama’s birth and dispel conspiracy theories that he was born elsewhere. Abercrombie was a friend of Obama’s parents and knew him as a child, and is deeply troubled by the effort to cast doubt on the president’s citizenship. The newly elected Democrat will ask the state attorney general’s office and health officials about how he can make public more of Obama’s birth documentation from Aug. 4, 1961, spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said Tuesday.Maybe the 71 year old hippie Abercrombie (see also this story) is sincere, and thinks that he can dispel the suspicions about Obama’s natural born citizen status and discredit the birthers by releasing Obama’s birth certificate. It doesn’t seem to have occurred to Abercrombie that it is Obama himself who has relentlessly kept his birth certificate concealed over the last several years, and therefore that Obama must have a compelling reason to have done so. So I would expect that Gov. Hippie will soon be receiving a discreet call from the White House telling him to lay off. It will be most interesting to see how the mainstream media respond when Abercrombie suddenly goes silent on the issue after making such a fuss about his desire to get the truth out. I would expect that by tomorrow or the day after, the name Neil Abercrombie will have disappeared from the MSM.
A sincere fool who hasn’t thought seriously …

Let us not underestimate the skills at misdirection that have been employed in the service of airbrushing virtually all of Obama’s past. Some version of “modified truth” can be employed that will enable Governor Abercrombie to fulfill the letter of his pledge, while continuing to cover up whatever it is that Obama wants hidden.LA writes:

What if it turns out, demonstrably proven, that the state of Hawaii cannot vouch legally and objectively for Obama’s birth? That he has no legal credentials for running for the presidency?LA replies:
I don’t have a definite answer. But see Clark Coleman’s comments on this point, deep in the long December 2008 thread on the natural born citizen issue. In that discussion, I had said that the truth, while desired and needed, would not have any practical effect on Obama’s tenure in office. Mr. Coleman pointed out why this was not necessarily the case.LA writes:
