Do American parents need to adopt Chinese childrearing methods?

There’s an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal about proper child rearing written by an Chinese American woman who calls herself a “Tiger Mom” as opposed to “Soccer Mom.” With a few exceptions it kind of sounds like how most Westerners raised their children not too long ago.
