Guess how the democracy-mad contingent see the killing of bin Laden. Just guess.

Victor Hanson writes at NRO on the “Bin Laden Fallout”:

I think there will be repercussions from the hit, and most of them will turn out to be good in terms of the War on Terror.

1) The world must now realize that the domestic antiwar movement is dead, kaput; it cares not a whit whether we assassinate bin Laden or a son of Qaddafi or go into Libya. Everything is on the table now and there are no self-restraints …

Got that? Because U.S. forces have thankfully killed our country’s number one enemy, that means that any opposition to any U.S. intervention in any country in the name of “freedom,” no matter how irrational such intervention may be and without any connection to our country’s interests, is now silenced. Which, says Hanson, is a good thing. The democracy-mad contingent interpret a rational and just act in defense of our country as establishing an unlimited license for our government to do anything the hell it wants. Because that is what they want. They want our government to be free to do whatever the hell it wants.

Neoconservatism sure has come a long way. Today’s neocons should all wear T-shirts saying, “Just Do It.”
