Uptown girls get into all-out brawl with cops, who call in reinforcements
(Update: here is a YouTube
video of the incident that works. Also, in another
entry, see former New York City school teacher Irv P.’s thoughts on the meaning of this incident.)
This from NBC New York:
NYPD Fights Teenage Girls in Subway [Of course, the headline should say, “Teenage Girls Fight NYPD in Subway”]
A group of teenage girls caught fare-beating got into an all-out brawl with police who pulled them off the subway Friday night, and one bystander captured the frenetic fight on video.
The newly released YouTube video (seen below) shows a few of the girls, ages 14 to 16, talking and fighting back against the two cops as they tried to arrest them for jumping the turnstile at the 125th Street station.
At one point, it appears one of the girls almost gets into a boxing match with one of the cops. Another one whacks one of the police officers with her yellow-checkered bag.
The brazen brawl continues for a few minutes until the police call in reinforcement, and what appears to be a dozen police officers, some in plainclothes, show up brandishing nightsticks.
The officers eventually manage to subdue the girls and take them into custody.
A witness on the tape is heard saying,”They did it all and now they’re going to blame the cops. It’s all their fault.”
The girls face charges including assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
See the readers’ comments. However, the video included in the article is no longer working. It says, “This video is private.”
UPDATE: This video works.

All these people carrying around video cameras doubtless think they’re going to capture the next Rodney King beating and provide yet more evidence of Racist Police Brutality in Amerikkka. In fact, the cameras primarily serve to document the truth about black dysfunction. But then, as John Press tells us, the truth is divisive, racist, and offensive…

I was going to send you that link but I figured you would find out about it yourself. I have an observation that I’d like to share.
My job takes me around New York City and part of it is engaging with all kinds of people. All races, ethnicities, national backgrounds. You name it, I’ve dealt with it.
By far the worst group to deal with is black women. And it’s gotten worse over the last few years. I don’t know why and I don’t care. The general atmosphere of the country is worse, the economy is bad, perhaps this has contributed to their sour temper, but the fact is, when I deal with a black woman, I put my armor on. Not always, but the general behavior is hostile, unprofessional, and borderline abusive.
Of course, I don’t mean that I put armor on literally. I expect to deal with someone who is hypersensitive, not too smart, and prone to outbursts. So I walk on eggshells. I don’t like this but I have to. It’s my job. Unlike them, if I mess up, I get fired.
The video of the brawling black girls was sickening but, more so, wearying. I hate feeling the way I do. My business sometimes takes me to that very station. The 125th street station used to be a no-go, but it has improved. However, when you go, you’ve got to be very, very careful. When you see a group of black “teens” you must make yourself very, very scarce and inconspicuous, lest they decide to attack you. They won’t pay for it at all. Their behavior is without cost, and they know it.
I put on a mask, and I get as far away from them as I can. Mostly they ignore me. Occasionally we make accidental eye contact and I immediately sense aggression so I back down and scuttle away. Yeah, that’s very Eloi but I’m no match for a Morlock.
As I said, I hate feeling this way. They ruin your life even if they aren’t violent. I can’t believe I’m alone in this.

I have to say that I found it satisfying that the two officers dealing with the young female hoodlums were themselves black. So there was no way this incident could be blamed on white racism. Yet though the officers were black, they were being as careful and seemed as hamstrung as any white officers would be in confronting the hoodlums, taking more from them than they should have taken, for the reasons Sophia gives.
Sophia A. replies:
My sentiments exactly. I noticed the same things: the cops were black and they were oh so ginger in restraining these girls. Really, a burly grown man could overpower one of these banshees fairly quickly, but they must observe proprieties. This video was pure anti-Sharpton gold, not that anything will put Sharpton out of business.
I am sure that in their training the guys (cops) pass on trade secrets to one another which we will never hear. I am sure that all cops, black and white, know the score: behave very, very carefully with a hysterical black female. There is nothing quite like it. A man may be stronger, but you can hit him. With a female, you’ve got to tame the shrew, but like a gentleman. It’s tough.
