What is the proper place of women in politics?
The discussion of women in politics continues at The Thinking Housewife. Commenter Francis Poretti disagrees with my general position that the entry of women into politics is bad for society and gets worse the more women there are. He agrees that there are certain bad results from male/female dynamics in politics, namely that male politicians end up deferring to the females, but he hopes that this problem can be fixed through a change in attitudes rather than by excluding women from politics altogether. Laura Wood replies with her usual clarity and firmness that the problem is inherent in the differences between the sexes and cannot be overcome. Laura also dispenses with the Poretti’s s idea that having many women in local and state officers would not be as harmful to society as having women in federal office.
