Discussion on gun sales continues
Many comments have just been added to yesterday’s post, “A challenge to the gun-rights [defenders]: What is to be done about gun sales to criminals and the mentally ill?” There is some repetition, as readers are going over similar points, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to speak. Among the newly posted comments, here is my reply to a reader which more or less sums up my understanding of the issue as explained by the many knowledgeable readers in this thread:
I understand what you’re saying. And the bottom line remains that society has no way of preventing firearms being sold to someone like Cho. From which it follows that the only way to protect society is widespread conceal and carry, including on college compuses such as Virginia Tech.
