Democratists no more
Starting in 2003-2004, it became my mantra that “it would be vastly easier and more effective to invade a threatening Muslim country for three weeks once every five years than to occupy it indefinitely.” I said that if any Muslim country became a threat to us, we should attack it and destroy its regime and then leave, warning them that if they reconstituted the troublesome regime and repeated the threat, the destruction would be far worst next time. Most importantly, the U.S. should never become involved in the internal affairs of any Muslim country.
Around the same time, I was expelled as a commenter at Lucianne.com because of my persistent (though politely stated) criticisms of the spread-democracy policy of George W. Bush, who was the idol of that website.
Today at Lucianne.com, my policy has become the consensus view (though I add the caveat that I have never advocated the mass killings of Muslims, as some L-dotters do). Here are some of the L-dotters’ responses to the Washington Post article, “Violence in wake of Koran incident fuels U.S. doubts about Afghan partners”:

In the future, if they are no threat to us, leave them to their own miserable fate. If they are a threat, kill them without any apologies and in the quickest way possible. Period.

I return to a comment I made nearly a year ago. We tell the Afghans we’re leaving lock, stock and barrel. They can handle their own internal affairs and problems themselves, regardless of the outcome, without further interference from us. However, if ANY future terrorist activity of any kind can be traced back to any group in Afghanistan, we will be back. This time it will only be the USAF. One major and one captain in a B-2 who will end the Afghan problem once and for all.

We do need to get out of Afghanistan and be prepared to go back with fury when the need arises. The need will arise again to be sure….

Afghanistan will never be anything but a muslim hellhole and has been a stupid waste of fine American men and US taxpayer’s money. So leave—and let them slaughter each other. And if they ever plan to export any trouble, napalm or nukes will fix the problems nicely.

Afghanistan shouldn’t even be a country. Correction, it isn’t a country. Just a vast wasteland controlled by multiple stoned aged tribes.
Get out.
Then, to keep a lid on it, intervene from time to time with devastating air strikes. Then get right back out.

My Gosh, is this forum swinging around to Ron Paul’s view on foreign policy?—Don’t do it, but if you do, do it right and declare war!?? Any lingering doubts whatsoever that the $trillions and thousands of lives spent propping up Iraq and Afghanistan did us more harm than good???
