Obama the native Kenyan, Warren the Native American: both seeking left cred

Before Obama was born in Hawaii (2007 to present), he was born in Kenya (1991 to 2007). As Mark Steyn explains, being a native Kenyan served the purpose of Obama’s career back then, as the prospective author of a book on black grievance and colonial oppression. But when he ran for president, being a native Kenyan stopped serving the purpose, so he started being born in Hawaii. After all, he not busy changing the place he was born is busy dying.

For similar reasons, Steyn reminds us, it served Elizabeth Warren’s purpose to be an American Indian:

As The Fordham Law Review reported, “Harvard Law School hired its first woman of color, Elizabeth Warren, in 1995.”
