What level of reading ability should set the norm for our literary culture?
In the entry, “The NIV hits another home run,” a reader disagrees with my preference for the King James Version over the modern translations. He says that the line I quote from Psalm 17 in the KJV, “They are enclosed in their own fat,” is meaningless to him, as is the entire KJV and all of Shakespeare. I reply.
