Another white female—and great-great granddaughter of Franklin Roosevelt—gets her Obama

Or rather she’s got her Obama Sr., who will make her the mother of her own Obama Jr., which is the ideal of all right-thinking white American females, whether upper class, middle class, or prole.

And if you thought Barack Hussein Obama was an exotic name, read on (the story is from the laughably precious wedding pages of the New York Times):

Sara di Bonaventura and Nii Amaah Ofosu-Amaah

Sara Elisabeth di Bonaventura and Nii Amaah Koranteng Ofosu-Amaah were married Saturday evening at the Memorial Church on the Harvard campus in Cambridge, Mass. The Rev. Jonathan C. Page, a minister of the United Church of Christ, performed the ceremony. On Friday, the couple had a traditional ceremony of the Ga tribe of Ghana at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge.

The bride and bridegroom met at Harvard, from which they graduated and from which she received a master’s in prevention science and practice, and he an M.B.A. The bride also holds a master’s in teaching from Pace University.

Mrs. Ofosu-Amaah, 28, is a teaching fellow at Harvard. Next month, she is to become the liaison to the headmaster and board of trustees at the Boston Arts Academy, a public high school in Boston.

She is a daughter of Ellen di Bonaventura and Christopher di Bonaventura of Newton, Mass. The bride’s father is an executive vice president at the division of Fidelity that manages the finances of wealthy individuals. He works in Boston. Her mother is a clinical dietitian at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The bride is a great-great-granddaughter, on her father’s side, of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Mr. Ofosu-Amaah, 30, is a senior associate at Berkshire Partners, an investment firm in Boston, helping the firm acquire privately held companies.

He is the son of Waafas Ofosu-Amaah and Paatii Ofosu-Amaah of Chevy Chase, Md. The bridegroom’s mother is a regional coordinator, in Washington, at the World Bank’s development office, where she focuses on African policy. His father is a special adviser to the president of the African Development Bank, which has its headquarters in Tunis.

Jessica K., who sent the article, writes:

She’s finally got her Obama. How long until she visits the morgue?

LA replies:

Well, they’re married and members of the international elite, which significantly reduces the odds of homicide.

Alan Roebuck writes:

Did you notice that the NYT article refers to the bride as “Mrs. Ofosu-Amaah”? According to the rules of liberalism, she should be called “Ms. di-Bonaventura-Ofosu-Amaah.” Are they reverting to honoring tradition when the groom is non-Western?

LA replies:

I did notice that, and I figured that was the name she told the Times she wanted to to use, but we don’t know.

JC in Houston writes:

Would that make her a great great great niece of Theodore Roosevelt, since Teddy was Eleanor’s Uncle?

LA replies:

I believe so.

Ed H. writes:

The photo of these two is so depressing. She actually looks like FDR—same nose, long face, big chin. The liberal establishment in the USA is now merging its genes with West Africa. Only when I step back and look at it in some Spenglerian historical cycle coming to an end does it remotely make sense. On the other hand it would make perfect daily newspaper-type common sense if he kills her in a fit of rage when the incompatible differences emerge. Say are a year or two of marriage.

Brandon F. writes:

Of course she is Mrs. Ofosu-Amaah. Of course if she married a white American it would be Ms. di Bonaventura in typical Harvard feminist fashion. Since white women marry black men to show the world how open minded and good hearted they are, which amounts to a form of moral self aggrandizement, she must take on that ridiculous name (for a white woman). It will really increase her street cred in the liberal Boston teaching community.

LA writes:

Regarding Ed H.’s comment, that really is incredible that there is what seems to be a family resemblance to FDR, four generations removed!

Although I am often appalled at the stories you post about the evils committed by black Americans against whites, I feel I have to say something with regard to this item.

Having spent time in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa, I found that most Ghanaians I met were gentle and more laid-back. That was some time ago, decades in fact, so I have to admit I’m not sure what the situation is with younger folk today.

Many that I met (at university level) were the product of Presbyterian Scots schooling in Ghana.

Perhaps we should hold back a little on thoughts of the possible terminal ending for Mrs. O-A., which I find rather quick on the part of your commenters. From the picture you posted, Mr. O-A. looks more like a bright young man than the ugly pusses of the murderers in your black-on-white crimes.

That said, I agree that today it often pays to be more careful about inter-racial relationships. And that goes for other races than African—and other religions. Muslims kill white women, too.

LA replies:

I agree with you, and please note that I disagreed with the first commenter who suggested that Mrs. Ofosu-Amaah would be killed. Then another comment came in making the same prediction, and I posted it without a reply, having already made my point.

James P. writes:

You and Ed H. noted that she looks like FDR, which is true. The good news for her is that she does not look like Eleanor Roosevelt. As for merging Roosevelt’s genes with West Africa, keep in mind that as a member of the liberal elite, she will likely refuse to breed in order to focus on her career.
