Egypt indicts Terry Jones and seven Copts on capital crime

The Jawa Report is proposing your Islam separation policy!

LA replies:

In response to this report,

Egypt’s general prosecutor issued arrest warrants Tuesday for seven Egyptian Coptic Christians and a Florida-based American pastor and referred them to trial on charges linked to an anti-Islam film that has sparked riots across the Muslim world….

The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the accused, which includes the film’s alleged producer, face charges of harming national unity, insulting and publicly attacking Islam and spreading false information. The office said they could face the death penalty, if convicted…

the blogger, Rusty Shackleford, says in disgust:

The time has come for us to leave Muslim countries to their own devices. If they wish to civilize, I wish them all the best.

We tried supporting dictators and that didn’t work. We tried supporting democracy, that didn’t work. We tried nation building, and that didn’t work.

Homer Simpson summed it up precisely. We tried our best and failed miserably. The lesson is: never try.

Not caring about what happens in the Muslim world is a cathartic and liberating experience. You should try it.

Shackleford is not saying anything about removing Muslims from the West, which is the most important part of Separationism. Lots of people—the anti-war left and the anti-war right, for example—have always said that we shouldn’t be in the Muslim world. But they don’t say that Muslims shouldn’t be in our world.

However, one must add that the Egyptian government’s move is extremely helpful—even more helpful than the consulate attack and the various anti-U.S. riots—in clarifying the nature of the Islamic societies that the American establishment thinks we can and must democratize. To democratize an Islamic society simply means to put the power of the state in the hands of sharia believers. Any person possessed of normal reasoning powers and a modicum of knowledge of Islam can understand this. The American establishment does not understand it. Egypt’s latest action brings us that much closer to the point where the democratists’ pathetic, lying excuses (“We gave them democracy, but we didn’t carefully manage their democracies so that they would use their new-found political freedom to elect secular liberals!”) will run out, and the Bush-Obama Democracy Project will be exposed as the ideological fantasy that it is.

It is interesting to see how many people who once advocated democracy, nation building, and intervention in the Muslim world as the means to end Islamic terrorism and backwardness are now radically rethinking their views. For Rusty Shackleford to make such a statement, however embryonic his thinking at this point, is a major step. He has finally, after years of championing neoconservative policies, been mugged by reality. Hopefully he takes this thinking further and applies it to Muslim immigration, but it is a hopeful beginning. Of course, there are still the dead-enders (to borrow Rumsfeld’s term) like Max Boot and John McCain who still think that America can save the Muslim world, but they are increasingly isolated and irrelevant.

LA replies:

I knew nothing about Shackleford before this, and so wasn’t aware that he was a neocon supporter. That makes his article impressive.

I also heard (last Friday, I believe) an encouraging statement from Dennis Miller, who, while a comedian and entertainer, is generally neocon in his overall outlook. In discussing the recent developments in the Middle East, he half-jokingly suggested that, after airlifting Israel out of the area, we build a tall wall around all the Middle Eastern countries, install a glass dome, and let them to their own devices.

Although it was stated in exasperation, I find it encouraging that such thoughts are creeping in to the periphery of the neocon world.

I am glad you have discovered the Jawa Report. I’ve been reading them since they began blogging. They wage a unique warfare on Islam. These guys are all geeks and hackers of considerable skill. They have infiltrated terror cells that use the Web to spread their Islamic filth, and they have used the weapon of humor to ridicule the cult and its prophet far more effectively than silly cartoons and badly made movies. One of their more hilarious hijinxes has been to “translate” the usual messages of death by sheikhs and mullahs, and have them say nice, Christian things. They often print the death threats they get.

One of their virtues is that they have exposed terror connections of Muslim converts in the U.S. and abroad and have helped the police bring these people to justice. One of the cases they can be credited with is the American jihadis who wanted to kill the writers of the Comedy Central cartoon South Park. It a show that pretty much gores everyone’s sacred cow, and they had an episode on Mohammed coming up. It was actually an episode about censorship. A couple of anonymous threats to Comedy Central canceled that episode quickly.

When it seemed that the police weren’t interested in arresting the people who were threatening them, the guys at Jawa managed to find out who they were and exposed them all, taunting them the whole time.

The bad guys were arrested, including a white woman, a couple of white boys and an Irish national—all white converts to Islam.
