A president who had the right idea, and the ability to explain it to the nation
Stogie at Saberpoint posts President Kennedy’s 1962 television statement in which he cogently set forth his proposal for an across-the-board reduction in personal and corporate taxes, which, when it was passed, set off the extraordinary economic expansion of the 1960s. Paul Ryan referred briefly to the Kennedy tax cut in the debate last week, along with President Reagan’s similarly important and successful tax cut of the early 1980s, but Biden spoke over him, covering up what he had said. Ryan lacked the presence of mind to repeat his point and explain it so that the audience would hear and understand it. This callow 42-year-old is no Great Communicator.
