The new White Negro: an encounter with a wigger

(Note: The title is a reference to Norman Mailer’s famous and infamous 1957 essay, “The White Negro.” As summarized at Wikipedia, the White Negroes, according to Mailer, “adopted black clothing styles, black jive language, and black music. They mainly associated with black people, distancing themselves from white society.”)

The discussion about what is the white race leads me to wonder about whites that increasingly act like blacks. Recently I had an interesting encounter with a “wigger.” He was fully decked out in the usual black rapper costume jewelry, drooping T-shirt with a pit bull logo, a** crack showing, tattoos. I asked him, “Why do you dress like that? You are white, you have intelligence and a great heritage, why do you imitate the lowest black garbage in society? Try a little self respect man!” This was an appeal made in a friendly tone, not an accusation. The effect was devastating. I had wedged him between a backhanded compliment, “you are white” and a reminder that he had made a choice to abandon his better self, and behind all this was an insistence that all cultures are not equal. He had descended into his present state without making a single conscious choice, and this was because he did not know there were any choices. I would say that this was how whites have always maintained political power because whites were aware of themselves as a unique culture, and it was the deliberate presentation of this culture and a refusal to allow it to be compromised that ensured political and economic control.

The effect was remarkable. The wigger was feigning a deliberately stupid, uncouth look on his face along with a slouch. He was also feigning a black ghetto accent. As I was speaking to him, his backbone straightened, and the stupid look on his face disappeared. He took a couple steps away from the group, mostly blacks, that he was hanging out with, and he unconsciously hitched his pants up.

He said something like, “Oh, man don’t be judgmental.” But it was his body language that said everything. The message was received and understood and he was saying, at least to himself, “I don’t want to be thought of like that.”

Your exchange with Ed H. put me in mind of a number of similar incidents I have been party to.

Some years ago I was in attendance at a football game between my old high school and another team. When our boys began to dominate the game offensively, one of our running backs began to gyrate after a good run, as though he were black instead of white. After the third or fourth time of seeing these blackish gyrations following a good play, I announced from my seat in the stands, “Why are you acting like that, are you black; do you think you are black … do you want to be black?!”

The offending player, of course, could not hear me from the stands. But the effect on the fans around me was noticeable. For the most part they went silent, although there was a small contingent that was obviously perturbed by my insolence. Though they said nothing of it to me personally.

Second, I have a female relative who, as I understand it, acts like a “wigger” at least 99 percent of the time. The other one percent of the time—when I am in her presence—she completely alters the way she acts, reverting back to her white roots. This is temporary on her part, as I have been informed many times. But she is good, I will give her that, since I have, not once, ever heard the black accents, or seen the black mannerisms, all of my family says they’ve witnessed as her normal behavior many, many times.

Third, one of my nephews often relates the story of when he was in high school and had taken an interest in the ridiculous cartoon, “Beavis and Butthead.” Evidently he was very good at impersonating these characters, and had developed the habit of doing so even in serious conversations. But as fate would have it, a well-respected white student at his school one day challenged him with “Hey!, that’s a pretty good impression of Beavis and Butthead! Maybe you should start to act normal now that you’ve mastered it.” Which my nephew says had a profound impact on his thinking at the time.

What does any of this mean? I don’t know. Except to say that Ed’s singular experience, as necessary as I believe that it is, probably won’t, over the long haul, serve to accomplish much. But I salute him for his perseverance in the face of unimaginable odds.

By coincidence I too had the notion of the “white Negro” come into my thoughts today, an epithet I had never previously considered. I was reflecting upon the music choices of most of my contemporaries, in which they incessantly listen to degenerate rap and hip hop “music,” emulating the speech and behavior found in such “music.” It has long disgusted me, and has, for better or for worse, engendered a mild contempt for most whites my age (those under thirty years of age). It is amazing that our race once produced great artists like Homer, Virgil, Dante, Shakespeare, and Milton, while modern white youth and young adults waste away listening to and imitating illiterate, criminal, underclass thugs.

I have said it before, ours is a civilization that wills its own destruction.

I find this purported reaction hard to credit. Wiggers, who abjectly wallow in negrophilia, are most likely to respond to the statement, “You are white, you have intelligence and a great heritage,” with self-righteous shrieks of “You’re a racist! And a Nazi! And a racist Nazi!”

The wigger, far from straightening up, would most likely conclude that criticism from a vulgar white supremacist vindicates his embrace of the morally superior victim-race.

Not too long ago, I remembered something that I read about, probably in the 1970s. I searched but could not find it. A study of some kind showed that if a young white male was introduced into a group of young black males, hanging on the street, that almost immediately the white would begin to adopt the mannerisms of the blacks, and in a short time he would be almost indistinguishable, except for his color. But, that when the reverse was tried, a single black youth introduced into a white group, the black would not adopt the whites’ mannerisms, but would only mildly tone down his, no matter how long in the white group.

If that is true, it says a great deal about an important aspect of “white” character; that modern liberalism is ingrained in whites and that it flourishes wildly in white liberals.

The key to breaking down the wigger defense mechanism, the one which as you correctly pointed out would normally go into the ideologically conditioned shriek of “you are a Nazi,” was the friendly and inoffensive tone in which I said it. My comments to him were non-accusatory and more of an appeal. I smiled and offered comradeship on a higher level than that which he was pathetically seeking out with his black buddies, and, despite all his conditioning at some deep, almost genetic level, he responded. His rational mind didn’t really know what to do with me. I was short-circuiting all his normal reflexes, and something more profound took over.

And that’s the point. We as white males are the under an assault from every power structure in this society. Big Education, Big Media, Big Politics have all identified us as disposable. They dream of the day when we are gone. They are intoxicated with their success, but it is success they have never earned. We have traitorously surrendered to them. And they, our controllers, sense this keenly. They are very nervous about how flimsy their constructed new world is. That’s why any form of white male solidarity must be demonized. The force of organized white, masculine European culture with its history of 2,500 years of thinkers, doers, achievers, builders, adventurers, healers, poets, is terrifying in its force and majesty. So if a 50 year old white man in an oxford shirt and slacks can bond instantaneously with a 25 year old white wigger outside a Starbucks using an appeal of Us vs. Them, what could really be done if white male culture offered to its members real identity, real comradeship and a resolve not to surrender another inch of territory? The deep unspoken tribal/genetic/cultural bond have never gone away.
