Robbers hold clothing store employees hostage, then flee

Why do I assume that the robbers who “stabbed a clothing store employee and sexually assaulted another during an hours-long hostage drama that ended early Friday with a police SWAT team surging into the shop and rescuing 14 workers” were either black or Hispanic? Because the AP story provides no physical description of the robbers.
